Oatmeal

For those who like to start their day on a sweet note, this warm and comforting oatmeal provides both the nutrition and the flavour to help you feel good about the choice you made!

Ingredients(serves 3-4)
-1 cup organic steel cut oats
-2 cups organic almond milk
-1 teaspoon cinnamon, plus more for garnishing
-fruits of your choice
-nuts and seeds of your choice (we like chia, hemp hearts and flaxmeal)
-maple syrup

In a small, heavy bottom sauce pan, heat the milk on medium, until you see the steam start to evaporate. Add in the oats and the cinnamon and simmer on low-medium heat, stirring constantly using a wooden spoon (lowering the heat to the minimum if it starts to boil or stick to the bottom). Continue cooking, stirring constantly, for about 10 minutes or until most of the milk is absorbed and the oats reach your preferred level of creaminess (the longer you cook the oatmeal, the creamier). Distribute evenly between bowls and top with your favorite fruits, nuts and seeds and drizzle with maple syrup. Try different combinations of fruits and nuts for variety, such as apple dices with walnuts (raw or toasted), cinnamon and honey/maple, or fresh peach slices with a dollop of whipped coconut cream and a drizzle of maple syrup! All berries work really well with bananas and they lend a beautiful color to the oatmeal as well! Enjoy!
