Naan bread pizza
If it's Saturday - it's pizza! And if I don't feel like making the pizza dough from scratch and happen to have naan bread in the fridge... than naan bread pizza it is! This time I made 2 pizzas - a tomato-olive pizza and a pepper pizza, if you'd like to make more or less - adjust the ingredients accordingly.
Ingredients
- 2 naan breads
- 1/2 half white onion, sliced
- 3 small sweet peppers/1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 tomatoes, sliced into rounds
- 5 olives (kalamata), pitted and sliced
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt and pepper
- nutritional yeast (optional)
For the pizza sauce
- thick tomato juice/tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
- salt and pepper
Prepare the pizza sauce by combining the tomato juice with the basil, oregano, evoo, salt and pepper. If using tomato paste, add a little bit of water until you reach the desired consistency. If you do not use all the sauce for the pizzas, store it in the fridge.
Heat 2 Tablespoons evoo in a non-stick pan, add the onions with the peppers, sprinkle them with salt and pepper, and sauté for a few minutes (about 7) until softened.
Place the naan breads on a baking sheet, add a little bit of pizza sauce and the sautéed veggies on one of them, the tomato rounds and the sliced olives on the other, adding a bit of salt and pepper on the tomatoes. Sprinkle both pizzas with nutritional yeast and bake at 400 F for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy!
